The MCU-College of Optometry (COO) has achieved a significant milestone through strategic collaborations with two esteemed organizations: the Asian Optometric Congress (AOC) and the Integrated Philippine Association of Optometrists (IPAO).
Originally founded in Malaysia, AOC has expanded its presence, prioritizing the advancement of vision care services throughout the ASEAN region. Meanwhile, IPAO, as a distinguished association of optometrists within our nation, was renowned for delivering exceptional vision and eye care services.
The official signing ceremony, held on July 19, 2023, was graced by key individuals who play pivotal roles in shaping the future of optometry. Dr. Renato C. Tanchoco, Jr., President of MCU, Ms. Giandelu Carissa E. Santos, MCU Academic Director, Dr. Katherine De Mesa, Dean of MCU-COO, and Dr. Angelo Maduli, Vice President for Academic, all lent their esteemed presence to this momentous occasion.
Representing the AOC and IPAO were Dr. Charlie L. Ho, AOC President and IPAO Chairman, Dr. John U. Nakpil, IPAO National President, and Dr. Evelyn A. Abarintos, IPAO Vice President for South Luzon.
As the institution embarks on this transformative journey, both parties eagerly anticipate enhancing the quality of eye care services and promoting optometric education on a regional scale. This partnership symbolizes a promising future for optometry in our country and beyond.
