On September 13, 2023, the Manila Central University-College of Medicine (MCU-COM) celebrated its 76th founding anniversary at the Helix Auditorium! The theme of the celebration was "Excellence Through Leadership and Service" which is a reminder of the school's commitment to producing competent and compassionate physicians who will make a positive impact on the world.
The program began with a thanksgiving mass led by Rev. Fr. Kennedy A. Neral. This was followed by welcome remarks from Dr. Marissa Villacarlos-Nualla, Chair of the Committee on Foundation Day, and opening remarks from Dr. Maria Lilybeth R. Tanchoco, Dean of the College of Medicine.
Dr. Paul Arnel R. Andres, Chair of the Department of Surgery at MCU-FDTMF Hospital and a member of the COM Class of 1988, delivered an inspirational message. Dr. Renato C. Tanchoco, Jr., President of Manila Central University, then gave the President's Message. Dr. Dante Noel P. Perez, Chair of the Department of Physiology, introduced the new Associate Vice President of the College of Medicine. Dr. Marissa Villacarlos-Nualla, President of the MCU COM Alumni Association, then presented the officers of the association for the year 2023-2024.
After a brief intermission, Clinical Clerks Eduard Excell M. Florentino and Alessandra D. Pabillon entertained the audience with a performance.
Dr. Eivin B. Tolentino, University Registrar, then awarded the top students for the academic year 2022-2023. Dr. Charisse P. Guerrero, Chair of the Awards Committee, Ms. Giandel Carissa Echiberry-Santos, Academic Affairs Director, and Dr. Maria Lilybeth R. Tanchoco, Dean of the College of Medicine, then recognized the outstanding faculty with the "Gurong-Mediko Centralino Award."
The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Arthur T. Magboo, Associate Dean for Social Learning and Participation, and Dr. Evelyn G. Sta. Cruz, Associate Dean for Quality Assurance. The 76th founding anniversary celebration of the MCU-College of Medicine was a fitting tribute to the school's long history of excellence in medical education.
